Remember Pigford - On April 25, 2013, the New York Times reported that “the $50,000 payouts to black farmers had proved a magnet for fraud” and that “its very design encouraged people to lie” - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pigford_v._Glickman

Cargill?
Monsanto (Bayer)?
ADM?

Or should we think more broadly, say Goldman, etc?

Someone would benefit from this plan and it ain’t the recipients of the land grants.

"There were only 45,500 Black farmers — roughly 1.3% of all US farmers — in the United States in 2017."

711 acres per black farmer.

But what about blacks that aren't farmers. There are 40 million blacks. So 0.8 acres per person, if you don't give farmers special status.

Hasn't this already been done once?

Feds have 640 acres of land. But I think a lot of it is either arid, national parks, or not settled for a reason.

If you do that, and then hit them with property tax on land that they can't farm and has no improvements, have you done them any favors?

My daughter says it's the idea, not the amount. This could well squash that idea.

That’s a sure way of destroying America’s agriculture industry that is the envy of the world.

Imagine your typical city black standing out in the country looking at his/hers new 160 acre spread.

Not a building in sight, no water well, no toilet, no electric, no cable TV, intermittent cell phone service, no corner store for miles, no fast food, no homies, no drug peddlers, no street walkers.....

The former owner comes along and offers cash for it right there - 10% of what the government paid them for the land just a short while ago.

Is it a sale or not?

Trying to emulate SA policies

Except whites are not 9% of the US population.

Eventually, there is going to need to be a grand settlement because the status quo is unsustainable.

Any grand settlement is going to include land.

How much and where? It's premature to say.

So, I take it these Democrats are trying to enact legislation to compensate Black farmers for previous Democrat policies and Big Ag lobbying results in the Ag Department?
