Actually India was perenially power-starved. Now Solar panels are far cheaper and iirc, 70% of India gets bright sun at least 300 days a year, Solar power is booming.
Large Solar plants are being installed in the desert regions in the west of India where on average 330+ days of intense sunlight is received. Even if subsidies are given (mostly not), the spinoff in terms of higher power availability and consequent benefit to both industry and residential regions has seen a vast increase in economic activity.
Even rooftop solar is becoming popular, albeit with subsidies, to the extent that regions with 8 hour blackouts are now down to just infrequent ones.
This, along with Wind power for the same reasons, is why India could meet its Paris agreements. In addition, as a welfare to the poorest the Govt has started giving bottled LPG connections in most parts of India for domestic use, leading to a marked decrease in burning of wood for fuel.
In some areas saturation points for renewables are being reached, sunsidies are zero and I believe the market for storage batteries will zoom .
Young Asians are what is driving much of this, though they may not know it. As Western jobs head to Asia, a few billion people are going to want cars, their own homes (with electricity and running water), families - and the global elites would rather pare back those things in the West than see them explode in Asia.
The “climate change” agenda is all about reducing the standard of living in the West to prevent that in Asia from reaching parity with it.
Interesting. Thanks for the info.
