Unlike Fagsi, Trumps doctors are... doctors.

I do not trust Fauci, but POTUS’s doctors at Walter Reed said days 7-10 are the most dangerous with the type of treatment he is on. I, personally, believe he should have stayed in the hospital until that time has passed. I know he says he feels great right now, but as someone else here pointed out, the steroids he is on can make him feel really good. But, I also believe in miracles.

I believe if he wanted to die he wouldn’t have gone to the hospital.
Deductive reasoning, not mind reading.

"What I said is correct: the macrophages, neutrophils, dendritic cells, compliment system, etc. are the same today as they were a year ago and will be the same a year from now. I said nothing about the system operating with perfect efficiency 50 years from now. The same degradation in efficiency associated with aging affects everything."

If the same immune Mechanisms are still working, but at a decreased efficiency or lessor amount, then that's the whole point why the aged are more vulnerable to pathogens. Compare it to male testosterone that decreases in males as they age. They testes still produce some T even at 70 and older, but not enough to contribute to over-all health, energy, virility, muscle mass, and libido. Am I correct in my analogy?

Yes, definitely the case. Each and every cell in the body is running less efficiently in older people. That’s because the structures within the cells - including mitochondria and endoplasmic reticula - function less effectively. As a result, cells and systems within the body experience far more damage and are slower to repair themselves. That has an effect on every system in the body and it’s cumulative over time. That’s also why physical activity remains critical for people as they age; it improves the body’s ability to repair itself and acts as a buffer against systems failure.

The original contention was that staying at home for a few weeks or months weakens your immune system because it isn’t exposed to as many pathogens. That is absolutely false. There is no mechanism for a lack of exposure to pathogens to cause the immune system to somehow weaken. Neutrophils - for example - only live for a few hours after maturation. They have no idea if you’ve been in isolation because they don’t live long enough to find out. There are some external factors like stress, certain medications, exhaustion, etc. that can effect how well the immune system functions. But how many pathogens you’re exposed to? That isn’t one of them, unless you’re talking about overwhelming the immune system with a sudden onslaught.

I think President Trump has some of the best doctors in the world, and I also know no expense will be spared bringing in every expert on Earth using every resource on Earth to ensure he makes a full and complete recovery. I would also feel better if he were in the hospital, but he’s under 24/7 observation and should his condition take a bad turn, he’ll have immediate medical care and rapid transportation to the hospital.

I fully expect he’ll be alright, but you’re absolutely correct that we may have some scary points along the way, especially if he decides he wants to resume his full workload before his body is back to 100%.

Okay. I get your point. Avoidance of pathogens has no effect on the natural aging of the immune system or any other cells, of which we agree.

On the point of testosterone, bio-identical replacement has been proven to increase every thing I mentioned in my post above. However, it requires painless injection in the hip every 10-14 days to be effective. I'm 77 (both parents died in their early 60's) and it keeps me feeling like a 50 year old or younger, depending on the time between shots. My yearly blood work always shows I'm with the norms, except for a little high cholesterol.

I highly recommend it if an older man (55+) can find a "longevity" doctor. They are abundant now. No, not good for men with prostate problems, but for others, it is highly beneficial. Testosterone is a main reason that young men rarely have heart attacks and other diseases, exceptions excluded.

Fauci is a desk doctor and hasn’t put a stethoscope on a patient since medical school. I wouldn’t trust him for clinical care of dandruff.
