Great article—in Geneva, robots rule:
The US should raise the minimum wage to $1billion/hour. We could pay off the national debt with increased tax revenue. What could go wrong?
maybe we can ship the Portland CHAZSTERS and CHOPSTERS over to Switzerland. Put ‘em all on a cruise ship. LOL
Don’t Homeless people deserve a vacation?
One of the worlds riches cities. Says it all right there. When you are successful, you can pay more. The United States used to be wealthy but debt has destroyed us.
We are poor in comparison but our prices keep going up. Whats the difference? Have you bought a pound of ham lately? Good grief.
LOL!
That is an important point, and it plays a role in the minimum wage discussion here in the US; workers don’t file refunds for the Social Security and Medicare withholdings (and only recover some of the income taxes), so this is basically a way to force companies not so much to pay the workers, but to pay THE GOVERNMENT.
Thank you. I remember my German landlord saying, back in 1975, that he got a lot of “free” benefits such as health from the Hesse and West German government, however he stated that he paid 50% of his annual income in taxes. I also remember the Value Added Tax (VAT), from which GIs were exempt from paying when buying large items such as furniture.
See my post # 29 regarding taxes in Germany in the 1970’s when I served there in the US Army.
