Carville’s reaction is very telling.

Something hidden from open view is saying no more debates.
Such as you point out internals, maybe it took a huge physical & possibly dangerous toll on Biden. Let’s see if he goes to ground over the next few days.

What do you think?

Carville would not be saying this IF Biden won the debate or if last nights debate was good for the Dems.

It was not. It alienated the far left. It showed that Dems want to pack the court. That Dems support Antifa and not law enforcement.

I do not think Trump lost votes last night. The people who think he is rude and not Presidential were not going to vote for him anyway.

Biden lost votes. He lost all the police and their families. He lost the far left Bernie/AOC lovers.

I used that one phrase.

Wallace to Trump: "Sir, have you stopped beating your wife yet?"
Wallace to Biden: "Mr. Vice President, what is your favorite color?"

The Charlottesville misquote was a damned lie and Mike Wallace’s crotch dropping knows it.

I think this probably has to do with the corruption comments Trump was making.

The Dems do NOT want to go there, and they know Trump will hammer them relentlessly.

From what I’ve heard this morning, the winners were anyone who didn’t watch it.

Trump also kept hammering on the $3.5 million Hunter got from the Russian woman.

There are probably millions of people doing a Google search on that today and last night that had never heard about it before.

If Democrats thought Biden had done a great job last night, they would be clamoring for another debate, not setting the stage for no more debates.

Agree. If I am correct, the next debate between Trump and Biden will be a town hall format. So Biden can’t be pinned to a lectern and have notes to go from. He’ll have to be mobile and interact with the audience. Trump has the advantage here, naturally. The moderator for this debate will be from C-SPAN.

If Biden’s wearing a wire or drugged up (again), Trump will be able to get close to Biden and point out the “tells” to the audience. Let Biden start hiding, shifting, trying to conceal for all to see.

If I was going to expose Biden’s physical, mental and stamina limitations, I’d do it in a town hall format (which was the format where Trump had the killer “you’d be in jail” line against PIAPS).

My 1 1/2 cents,

“We don’t have to go through another debate. Joementia could just concede he is a man of no substance or he could give us some more joe comedy”

“Shut up man!”

“This clown!”

Oh, that hurt watching you look stupid or actually being.

I dunno...

I think it’s more of a case that Biden only scored ‘points’ that Wallace set up for him, and at any point in the 2nd or 3rd debate....Trump might turn and actually start debating the moderators entirely and treat Joe Biden as a ornament on the wall.

Trump did stumble around on four responses...I will agree to that. But if you were looking for inspiration with Joe Biden, it just never arrived.

And whatever those ‘funny tubes’ were on his wrist....I’d be afraid that Trump would walk up and pull up the sleeve exposing them, and asking what the ‘juice’ is.

This accomplished nothing for Trump, and I think Biden did fine. But it was not a very good night for American democracy at all.

Translation, Biden blew it. Big time.

Trump’s narrative would be “I beat him up too much and now he is afraid of me”. Biden can’t really afford to go there.

I’m starting to understand why Trump was over-the-top aggressive last night.

Apparently the criticism from the right is Trump should have let Biden have enough rope to hang himself, and not constantly badgered him. However, we know Wallace would have thrown Biden lifelines or let him escape if he faced that.

I think Trump’s aggressive approach was intentional. He wanted to keep Biden off balance in hopes it would leave Biden as stumbling mess. I saw Biden stammer a couple of times, but Wallace cut the debate off each time that happened.

I also think Trump had to come out swinging. If you recall, Biden took a very similar approach to his debate with Paul Ryan in 2012. At that time, Obama was not looking good in the polls. Trump needed to do a couple of things. He needed to avoid the incumbent first debate issue, and he needed to look strong against the onslaught he has faced. He also needed to challenge Biden on the things the press refuses to challenge him on.

What I think Carville is getting at with his advice, is he knows Trump will either take a very different approach at the next debate, especially if Biden gets verbally lost, or Trump will double down on the aggressive stance, and Biden might fold.

Another factor is the moderators for the future debates are not as established as Chris Wallace. They may want to make their mark by actually challenging Biden.

Yeah. That’s the point that Dan Bongino made. Trump forced Byedone to betray his base. If Trump achieved in discouraging 10-20 % then it was worth it. Also Byedone is going to be rattled after being attacked by Trump. He may never recover. He’s never had to debate a real man before.
