Yes. Our favorite Sweet Tomatoes bit the dust early
LOL....sorry, I don’t consider “Tex Mex” to be authentic Mexican. I grew up in Southern CA, I know Authentic Mexican Food and how it differs from “Tex Mex”. No authentic Mexican Restaurant in Southern CA puts chili con carne on enchiladas. That’s for chili dogs. They use real enchilada sauce. My Mom made it from scratch. And what about the taco shells here in Texas? Why can’t I find a single Tex Mex that doesn’t use Taco Bell preformed, premade, might as well be boxed taco shells for their tacos?
In Southern Cal virtually every Mexican Restaurant deep fries it’s own taco shell. And that’s the difference.
Our condo is in Old Town Orange and we are blessed. We can afford to have it. God has been good to us. I keep a motorcycle out there too to ride the coast and mountains. in fact....I’m headed out Wednesday for a weekend stay. And that includes authentic Mexican food, motorcycle rides to see the homeless and smoke and some good Japanese food too. :)
Steak and Malibu shrimp!
Same here. The food got nastier and nastier, very low quality and they lost us as customers years ago. They deserved to go out of business.
This falls directly at the feet of the Demorats!!!!
The last time that I was at a Sizzler (decades ago) one had to order dinner at the register. (If things have changed, fine, I've never been willing to double check.)
Thanks anyway, if I'm eating out, I'm willing to pay a server.
I love steak, tatoes, all that sort of thing. I'm not willing to drag a tray for anything except a salad bar.
Yep , Newsome and Garcetti and the rest. I think Sizzler will emerge though and be ok. They have excellent food, and as I said, precovid, they were packed in Orange at dinner and lunch. Been going there for about 35 years. Went to the one in La Puente since the last 70s too.
Debasio and Cuomo are destroying New York City......if something doesn’t change it’ll end up a welfare city because everyone who can will have moved out!
same here...Sizzler and Ponderosa all over the place. Wake up one day and poof - gone from here...
Then Jack In The Box ? poof - no more “after the bar closes” greasy stuff.
Golden Corral still has sirloins...how sad is that...
If you truly want authentic Mexican food, go to El Paso. No chile con carne, or pre-made, puff taco shells, there.
I lived in S Ca, and don’t consider their Mexican food authentic. The sauces tasted fake.
My best friend’s mom taught us authentic Mexican cooking, growing up. She learned from her mom, who learned from her mom, in Mexico.
Sounds like you’re NOT in West TX. You didn’t say what part of TX you migrated to.
Why not move back to CA, if the food is so delish and the visits keep calling?
Well they’re going to be careful about how this is handled.....if Newsome comes to the rescue in any way then all the rest will follow as well.
Self serve salad bars are just gross.
Their disappearance, due to China Flu, is ONE benefit of China Flu.
“Salad bar and buffet restaurants are a tough proposition”
A $hit load of them in So Cal, mostly Asian, Indian. Soup Plantation is already DOA.
>>>Why not move back to CA, if the food is so delish and the visits keep calling?>>>
Why not have the best of both worlds if God has made it possible for me to afford it? I know what makes me happy. A beautiful home here in North Dallas with lots of friends and tennis and a small beautiful condo in old town Orange where I spent 50 years of my life and have a motorcycle and the beach and mountains and rides and the Sizzler.
God has given me so much! HE’s a good God.
Is this the Tex Mex you’re referring to?
It looks mighty good to me.
And having eaten Mexican food throughout the southwest, including CA where I live...I prefer Tex Mex.
Just don’t try to get a good platter in Phoenix. I was most disappointed in Phoenix.
And, the Sizzler.
That’s funny.
Good for you to be counting your blessings.
Tell everyone there (in Commiefornia) that Texas is FULL. And, that you got in, by the grace of God.
Enjoy your trip.
Will do. And thanks for the Southern Hospitality. It just exudes from you!
I’m sure many prefer Tex Mex, especially people who grew up in Texas. I prefer authentic. Just like I prefer IN N OUT burger over whattaburger. Taste buds are like people.....different. :)
So you're the one. I always wondered who the heck could stand to eat at one of those dumps.
