The masks don’t prevent the virus from getting out of you nor getting in you.
The virus gets past the mask and once it’s in the air, the air you are breathing in that gets in around the mask, not through it, can infect you.
Let’s just do away with the blasted things.
Sometimes sense common or not, is better than science.
Surgical masks likely reduce transmission from an infected person who shouldn’t be out anyway- but circumstances may require.
They certainly don’t protect the uninfected much- if at all. N95s may.

“Mask extremism” has been an amusing but silly product of the outbreak.
Only a fool would go into a place that’s certain to have covid in the air without one.
Only a fool would wear one where it’s impossible that there’s covid in the air.
But both fools love to entertain us with silly arguments about the situations inbetween that we all actually face.

I agree. Though not perfect, it must help some. A mask reduces how far the air from coughs is propelled, as anyone can confirm by coughing toward their hand at arm’s length, with and without a mouth covering, and feeling the difference (I have, and felt a noticeable gust, then not a whiff). Also, though it’s true that an individual virus particle is incredibly tiny, many will be clustered in larger droplets that can be affected by coverings.

Was in a Starbucks Drive-Thru last week. I looked behind me and saw back to back cars with solo male drivers(late 20s) with masks on...
For what its worth, I usually see young men alone in cars with the masks on.
Not too many females, not sure what is up with this...

You want to argue that masks are never useful?
I don’t think so, but go ahead and say it if you do.
It would be most impolite of me to claim you’d argue something so stupid otherwise.
Whether masks are useful in the particular situations people actually face is debatable and the science isn’t clear.
People should evaluate their situation and determine their own response.
I got it now. The virus doesn’t grow/reproduce once it gets past a mask. Makes sense. Must only reproduce in the atmosphere, not in the human body.
