As compared to his predecessor in the Ferguson, MO, riots of 2014, when President Obama, consulting with US Attorney General Eric Holder and Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett , decided that such a trip would be too disruptive (1 December 2014). On the other hand, 5 days earlier, President Obama, on the second day of the riots, did release a statement condemning the property destruction;
“I have no sympathy at all for destroying your own communities. But for the overwhelming majority of people who just feel frustrated and pain, because they get a sense that maybe some communities aren't treated fairly or some individuals aren't seen as worthy as others, I understand that,” Obama said. “And I want to work with you, and I want to move forward with you. Your president will be right there with you."

Except it was in spirit only! Bad optics you know!

They are pooping their pants worrying that Trump is going to use Kenosha as a backdrop for discussing how he is going to support communities that choose law and order over violence in the rebuilding.

The great struggle is to define this without simply saying remove your Democrat officials, so this has to be a test of two or three bullet points about responsible reaction to domestic chaos. And, I bet they have this worked out.

Still, he has been visiting disaster zones across the US. So, nothing different here. It may just be a touch base and the same sort of offers, and not a ground shaker. But they worry it will be, and I hope they are right.
