Someone got their feathers ruffled because a suspcious, unknown person was reported walking in an area known for vehicle burglaries and was wearing a hoodie. So, apparently, describing what someone was wearing in juxtaposition to being suspicious is now “racist.” The post was quickly deleted.
Everyone knows that hoodies are “gangwear” in most all quarters, intended to help obscure the face and physical features of the actors wearing them. I was told that they are used for head warmth, but these are worn in the hottest months of the years here in Texas. The protection-from-the-sun line won’t fly either, because they are worn at night as well. It is intended as cover for their identity. Police know this from extensive experience.
Did you read their own freaking post that I linked? Are you that slow?
I joined because of the many power outages my neighborhood has...thought it would be a great way to connect with neighbors we didn’t know, and possibly help. (We all own generators and chainsaws here). It has become inundated with ads, covid warnings and social justice. I just deleted the ap, I really prefer the old fashioned way of being a neighbor.
Nextdoor rooms are neighborhood-level forums so your experience will vary according to a lot of different factors.
I find ours pretty damn boring, people posting stuff like a loud car or motorcycle flew past their house or mean kids chasing cats...this is a lake community so mostly the gab centers around shit that gets lost and comes ashore on somebody’s property.
It’s useful though helps with finding lost pets and things, this State is deep blue but not the county, people honor the rules from what I’ve seen very little flame wars having to do with politics.
None of what you state negates the fact that NextDoor has sided with BLM, a terrorist organization. I dont care how benign your personal community is.
Neither does persistent, head-in-the-sand denial.
In my neighborhood, NextDoor might as well be called KarenCentral.
Ha! You too.
Most of the ranting in my neighborhood is about people letting their dogs poop in other peoples yards. Sure, Im against people letting their dogs Shiite on other peoples property (why peeing is tacitly seen as okay, I dont understand), but what good does it do to air your beef all over the neighborhood? Then there is the diarrhea poster, who posts 20 senseless bits of information a day so that you cant find any post with a semblance of importance.
Very useful for that. Lots of posts about animals. I've met nice people in the area that way. I trapped some feral kittens and a woman found good homes for them after taking them to a vet for treatment. Have helped others in need, and given items I no longer need. I don't bring up political discussions. But there are the crazies that can't resist stirring up trouble.
