Too late - they tore down the Sears store building at our Mall already to build something new.
Strong rumor it will be a Dave & Buster’s.
Amazon is just coming into brick and mortar stores as the looting and rioting goes nationwide.... Lucky them
This actually could be a great idea. plus have a lobby with lockers (like what they were doing in Whole paych...I mean foods) so if you want a more secure delivery than your front doorstep, you can go pick it up. I really liked that option till they closed our Whole Foods. We just happen to have a closed Sears store attached to the mall near the house.
Poor Sears. Amazon, shades of what could have been for it. If their process steps are mapped out side by side it will be noted that theyre identical.
Sears. Amazon

I’ve said for a long time now that the era of the mall and retail chain stores is quickly ending. In a decade the only thing that will be left are the “big box” stores like Wal-Mart and Target, grocery stores, and maybe a handful of specialty retail outlets that don’t lend themselves to online shopping (furniture, mattresses and the like). Everything else will move online to places like Amazon, especially when they rollout same day delivery nationwide, which they are already do in some of the major cities.

WAUWATOSA(WI) Amazon.com has confirmed that they will be taking over part of JCPenney’s former Wauwatosa warehouse, according to our news partners at the Milwaukee Business Journal.
The era of the mall is ending?
What will teenagers do? Where are they supposed to hang out?
they are turning our Sears into low.income.apartments.
If that does not keep me out of the mall now.....
This is a good idea........
This is a good idea........
Did you know that Jeff Bezos bought Whole Foods three years ago?
And now, your new neighborhood Amazon fulfillment center?
What will teenagers do? Where are they supposed to hang out?
Lol! I think that ended more than a decade ago, I don't think my kids (who are in their early 20's now) ever set foot in a mall, they would just "hang out" on their phones typing away with their friends. I know, it's hard to believe for someone like me was a teen in the 80's when mall culture was life...
“The era of the mall is ending?”
A mall is just a collection of retail businesses packed closely together with a single parking lot.
Smaller stores make sense in a mall. Entertainment makes sense. Restaurants make sense. Any establishment that people would desire to walk into. Seller of large items like appliances, TVs, Home Depot-type stuff.
Someone earlier mentioned Dave & Busters. Look it up: restaurant, pool, bowling, atmosphere. We don’t have one here when we do I’ll try it out.
Malls died for me when they put in the kiosks to maximize their profits so that you couldn’t walk freely through the mall, especially at Christmas. That, and the gang bangers seem to have found a home in many of them. Who in their right mind would go to a mall now?
“and the gang bangers seem to have found a home in many of them.”
They don’t limit themselves to malls any more. Now it’s entire cities.
They are probably getting bargain basement leases on buildings where Sears opted out through the bankruptcy and owners are desperate to find tenants in a pandemic. Smart move.
A gigantic (2.6 million square feet ) Amazon distribution center opened in Spokane, Washington in June. It was originally a greenfield site and was announced in July 2018.
They were planning on hiring 1,500 to 2,000 workers, but have actually already hired 2,600. In less than two months, they are shipping packages at a rate of two million items PER WEEK. At full capacity, they will hit five million per week.
Say what you will about Amazon, but the ability of any company to go from nothing to this operation in less than two years is astounding.
Now if only they would weed out counterfeit products with the same diligence.
Many diverse youths at the Dave and Busters near me.
