It was a reduction in FICA withholding and it was because Congress passed a law mandating it.
“entitled”
Amendment XVI of the federal Constitution and Title 26 of the United State Code say otherwise.
Without constitutional tax caps, the federal government is entitled to take as much as it pleases and send the rich off to Taliban territory armed with slingshots.

Perhaps you didn’t follow the thread which was more about past precedents leading up to and paving the way to where we are today. All three branches have bent the rules.
Bank on the fact that Trump's promise to reduce or eliminate the FICA tax if reelected will become a major campaign theme for the Democrats. Let's see who wins.
Social Security was created after the stock market sank in the early 1930s.
The typical Chinese person doesn’t spend $1000 on a cell phone, and doesn’t have cause to feel sorry for that fact.
My Democratic friend gets angry because I don’t own a $1000 phone.
Why?

Without legislation we’d have to pay it back so I’m saying “no thanks!”
“He really cant. Bank on the fact that this forgiveness will become a major campaign theme for the GOP.”
Well, let’s all pray it works!
Trump clearly said in his speech that he would completely eliminate the federal payroll tax after his re-election. Which I totally agree with. A tax on a person’s labor has always been illegal in my opinion.
Nonsense. To you, $80k sounds like a lot of money, and if you live in Fargo, it might be. If you live in the Bay Area? Not so much.
