Trump has known this was BS since the beginning, but he let the narrative get away from him.
Letting Fauci and Birx in front of the cameras was his biggest mistake and they’re still there, so that makes me wonder what’s going through his mind.
We can go to work, we can go to the grocery store, we can go to the gas station, and we can go to the polling place and vote. Set the booths six feet apart to please the snowflakes and let’s git er done.
Perhaps being a drama queen about this isn't the best way to go.......
Like I said in another post...it’s an election year and YOU are not the only voter. He has to get enough votes to win enough states to get to 270 EV. I don’t care if he has to stand on his head to do so....look at what he does, not what he says...you should know that about him now. His base is not going anywhere, but he needs the Karens and Kens on the fence who know Biden is a disaster, but are scared out of their mind by the media hype about ‘Rona. Welcome them with open arms and tell them they’re safe here.
Our a-hole Gov says wear one everywhere. I only wear it in businesses that ask me to, because it’s their prerogative.
You’ll get no condemnation for me. It is beyond frustrating — it is infuriating. Don’t they realize they’re killing us? They have killed our jobs, our freedoms, our constitutional rights, and our privacy. They have killed everything that’s beautiful: concerts, plays, gatherings, Christian Fellowship, weddings, graduations, family reunions, vacations, and on and on. And every day the Democrats and the globalists tighten the screw more, choke us further, and get away with it. The justice department does nothing. In fact, no one does anything to help us.
Good for you, have you ever noticed how those things clog up in about 20 -30 minutes of wear? Then they leak out the sides and bottom as you struggle to breathe? How is this helping your health? It isn’t.
When this first started, we made our own and they kind of worked, but it kept getting headaches and my glasses would fog so I couldn’t see because I couldn’t keep a seal around the nose.
I actually argued with someone here on FR about the value of masks until the science became overwhelming and I had to admit they were right, useless, and worse. You have to have an N95 with a positive seal which will leave marks on your face in just a couple of hours. And, that mask will do nothing to protect others. As I said, they have vents to keep you from rebreathing the CO2. But those vents dump your breath out in a jet.

If by “the base” you mean his most ardent, high-information, conservative supporters, I wouldn’t worry about pissing them off.
They are high-information, which means they know how politics works. They know that in order to win a majority you need to appeal to the mushy middle. They understand what a bell curve looks like - the target rich middle part of the bell curve is where all the people are.
The so-called “base” is that skinny asymptote off to the right. There aren’t enough of us to win anything. Trump needs to appeal to that big hump in the middle.
High information voters understand this and will not be pissed off at Trump for doing what he has to do to win.
If Karen can’t work out that she is the target of these A-holes, Trump’s pandering won’t help.
But, my insisting that they defend us and get a staff that has a clue isn’t a problem, its a call for a better solution. The campaign is wasting their connection to their base. These emails are going out to DONORS, not fence-sitting moderates.
If they’re scared out of their minds because of this, they lack the critical thinking skills to participate in something as important as a presidential election.
Try telling ‘em that though. I don’t think the message would get through.
One doctor I listened to about masks said that the N-95 does nothing to filter viruses and was not designed to. Said filtering viruses requires an N-100, must be properly fitted and it takes training to do that. Costs more too. About $35 dollars and up.
So, about one death per minute nationally (which is what we’re up to) is “BS”?

Well, I am a high information voter and a donor, and I am pissed. You aren’t. That’s fine. But, you will get more of the same if you let this slide. But, given that FR is about split on this, I would say it will slide and the price is going to be breathtaking.
I get that you have to pick your battles but none of this is based on legislation or anything other than the health department’s whim. These departments are run by Democrat operatives and they act without any scientific basis and without accountability. They are deciding to impose their rules on the whole of their state’s economy.
This is done in the face of numerous court rulings that assert that quarantine power is limited to the sick, not the healthy. In Ohio, the Health Department canceled an election over the specific ruling of the Courts with no consequence. They decided who would have jobs and who would go homeless. And, the deaths from the effects of this disastrous choice have been mounting all along but no one is paying attention.
Meanwhile, they are going to destroy the lives of millions of children who are not at risk to push their political agenda.
If you accept that the Emperor is wearing a fine suit, then everyone else is pressured to accept it too.
Trump knows it’s a bunch of BS but I think he’s setting the stage for in-person voting.

I think you might be right. By accepting the premise that masks can be beneficial in crowded places, he can then make the argument that wearing masks in polling places is sufficient to allow in-person voting.
Overall I think he’s probably carved out the least bad position, politically, that he can take on the masks. It’s sort of a modified limited hangout so to speak.
The N95 is near useless, but not completely. Anything less is not going to do a darn thing. Most of the studies that conclude that masks have little value in preventing infections of health care workers are based on N95. So, I will just accept the correction.

Trump knows nothing he says can un-scare the Karens at this point, and arguing Constitutional rights to people who lack even a third grade understanding of civics is a waste of time. He is disarming a major Democrat line of attack, and cannot really afford to do otherwise.

You betcha! It is going to get mucho worse until election. If Trump says wear masks it is because he can’t risk the economy with shutdowns and if he says wear them liberals won’t want to. It is all BS and an election year like no other. Go Trump Go!
