Of course not, they already spent the $$$
It's not them, it's their voters. Typical poll indicates those polled want teachers paid to NOT teach.
Sixty-five percent also oppose cutting funding to those schools that do not reopen, compared to 22 percent who support the idea
Majority opposes Trump administration demand that schools reopen: poll(BY ZACK BUDRYK - 07/15/20 07:28 AM EDT)
I live in Maryland and a couple months ago I paid my property taxes to the county which primarily goes to the closed public schools, ~ $7000 annually.
Time to move to a state with lesser property taxes.
California teachers are demanding everything but having to teach.
#7 My aunt and uncle in Mountain Lakes, New Jersey were paying $9,000 a year back on 2003 for their small single story home built in 1959 that they paid about $43,000 for.
On August 5,1981 following the PATCO workers’ refusal to return to work, Reagan fired the 11,345 striking air traffic controllers who had ignored the order, and banned them from federal service for life.
Just saying.....
If they dont have school, why should I pay school tax?
Rhetorical question. I pay it so they wont arrest me, of course, but Im just saying.
Oh so they still want to get paid but not show up for work? How convenient for them. What a bunch of selfish cowards. What about pharmacy workers, grocery workers, ect, who have to expose themselves to the public in order to get paid? I don’t hear them complaining. Fine, I say don’t go to work and then apply for the federal supplement.
Seeing their sign saying they want to live, makes them frankly look like a bunch of sniveling P^&&*((s.
Yes! From the several sources I have read, the classrooms are the safest place in town to be. No evidence that young people have ever spread the virus and the young people are the least apt to receive the virus. That sounds like the proverbial “win-win” situation. Monitor the teachers to make sure they don’t spread it one another. I know they aren’t, but their leaders sound like a bunch of prima-donnas. You know the type - their bowel movements don’t stink!
California property tax $1,200

Central (Red) Illinois property tax $770
NO federal money to schools that cannot or will not reopen on time

10% of a public school budget is money from federal funds.
People should be raising hell at the state and local levels.
Oh yes, I know the type alright. Albeit I live in Canada, but my step mother was a union teacher. She was the epitome of crap don’t stink. The type of person that talks down about “other” people.

Surprised but good to see not every state tries to balance their budget on the back of homeowners.
In Illinois, maybe other states too, property taxes are issued county by county.
Cook county, sky high. I’m in the center of the state in red Tazewell county.
This ping list is for the other articles of interest to homeschoolers about education and public school. This can occasionally be a fairly high volume list. Articles pinged to the Another Reason to Homeschool List will be given the keyword of ARTH. (If I remember. If I forget, please feel free to add it yourself)
The main Homeschool Ping List handles the homeschool-specific articles. I hold both the Homeschool Ping List and the Another Reason to Homeschool Ping list. Please freepmail me to let me know if you would like to be added to or removed from either list, or both.
