Breakdown of sanitation, disease, plague...There maybe more than four horsemen at this point due to nuclear power plants. No wonder the CCP is picking fights with everyone, they are all ready in damage control mode.

Three Gorges Dam has 5 level locks on both sides of the dam, that allow ocean going ships to travel over a thousand miles inland, past the dam, to the megacity of Chongqing.
Those might present their own failure modes at some point, or there might be an issue further along the sides from them, if things worsen.
Last week, Chinese authorities mentioned that they had measured some deformation at the side of the dam (no specifics), but that is was within specs.
They should have weather forecasts out for the next two weeks, and have a good idea of what to expect, but I have not heard the forecast.

I think that I read a report that the height of the dam is 185 meters, it is designed to contain a once in a millenium 175 meter water level, and the water rose above 162 meters last week. The flood warning level is 145 meters.
Thanks....these next couple weeks and perhaps beyond are going to be interesting and hopefully the dam will hold.
Re: Sponges Cities...the Red Chinese government has proclaimed those already flooded as “heroic sacrifices” by their residents....as if they were given a choice...there are some Chinese language home made videos of the reactions of the residents that slipped past the censors...not happy farmers at all.

It is not just the loss of the generation from the dam but the disruption of the electric grid. China's power generation system is based on regional power generation companies operated by one or more provinces grouped together. China has thirty or forty provinces and special administrative regions(some large cities are treated as separate provinces like Shanghai, Beijing, Hong Kong, Chongquing, etc..) Historically these provincial grids did not tie to each other. When Three Gorges was being planned the decisions was made to connect as many regional grids together as possible. The central nexus of this being Three Gorges.
Tying everything together allowed the use of the abundant hydro power provided by three gorges to be used as the peak power source for most of central China. Most Chinese power plants are coal fired with significant nuclear power now available as well. Neither of these sources of power cycle for peak loading well. It takes time to change the output from a nuke or coal plant. Hydro power on the other hand can be ramped up and down quickly and is an ideal source of peak power for generating grids.
The potential loss of Three Gorges would cause problems not just from the loss of the power itself. But, also from the resulting disruptions to the grid, loss of peak power capability, and probable isolation of different segments of the power grid.
They can deny that, aided by the Media and the globalists in our government. Hard to hide the collapse of Three Rivers Dam.

Part of Mao’s legacy, with “The Great Leap Forward.” They went on a mad dam building spree - many with primitive engineering and techniques, simply large earthen berms.
Some of those have already failed this season, adding to the problem.
You may want to search for and read “3600 YEARS AGO CYCLE HYDROGEN APPLIANCES”. As I do believe that once again we are heading into this cycle and have been for he past decade or better. As the old saying goes the proof is in the pudding and from what has been going on around the world in regards to crazy weather patterns, flooding, droughts, quakes as well as volcanic eruptions etc. it seems to confirm it.

You are right. Most of the people downstream are very hardworking individuals who couldn’t care less about the Party.
They want what all human beings want...to love and be loved; to marry and form good families; to have a decent home and enough food.
I have a friend in Wuhan. She is a music teacher. She was a guest in my home for a long weekend.
She came to the US to complete her music education at Shenandoah. She wanted to stay here, but family responsibilities drew her home. Being an only child, she was obligated to return to China to care for her elderly parents.
She is a Christian.
I think of the many millions of Chinese who are like her.
I pray that the dam holds.
If it doesn’t, the wrong people would be “punished”.
