I think these are more the next level up—what used to be called Resident Directors. In the other schools these folks were the grown ups who ran the dorm or house.

Oh, ok. Crappy journalism strikes again. Yes, we had resident directors who were fulltime staff that were in charge of each building/group of buildings. They were probably in the College and University Staff Employees Union or something like that.
