The irony is that blind auditions were first introduced to eliminate racial prejudice in selecting musicians. When, after decades of use, blind auditions didn’t deliver the desired result, the procedure was deemed “racist.”
This was anticipated way back in 1961 by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr.
