Well, you are not a Southerner. Don’t clutch to it if you don’t care about it. But why should people like you, who willingly drink the historical revisionist kool-ade regarding the Confederate flag, ram your opinions down the throats of an entire section of the country.
Trump is right, the flag represents Southern identity; got nothing to do with race or white supremacy. That is a very recent slur in certain peoples’ goals to do away with American traditions, which you obviously have bought into. Multiculturalism and tolerance go out the window when face with unapproved thoughts.
The War of Northern Aggression really happened. It’s American History and part of the heritage of some of us.

He's also called the Black Lives Matter murals and slogan a symbol of hate as well. I'd say that overall he's opposed to it.
We have freedom of speech. Anybody should be able to display whatever flag they feel like flying. Saying that it is OK for some protest group to fly their flag isn't saying you approve of the ideas that group has.
The whole problem with the leftist culture of censorship is that it seeks to remove the right to free speech.
People should be free to express themselves as they see fit, whether it is displaying a flag associated with history, or a regional culture, or one associated with a political movement.

Speaking for myself, they can wave BLM Flags all they like and I am not going to demand that their flag be taken down, as long as ALL LIVES MATTER flags are allowed to be waved as well.
They want to practice their First Amendment? They should also allow others to do the same. That right is guaranteed for EVERYONE.
Hey man, if you take away their ability to virtue signal about how evil the South is, they may have to ask themselves why they have tens of thousands of black men behind bars in their state.

His answer was perfect from the political pov and the question was a political one. Using the term “offensive” to describe anything is always a subjective opinion.
Seems like some Northeners can’t stomach the reconcilation that occurred long ago AND the official I.S. government recognition of Confederate as American.
