Seriously tho. How did he get 43? Wow. Talk about disrespect.
And of course NASCAR doubling down on their stupid hoax and blm support just awarded bubba the 2020 Byrnsie Award-
“In honor of late FOX NASCAR broadcaster Steve Byrnes, whose nickname was Byrnsie, the award was established to celebrate an individual in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series who embodies principles Byrnes portrayed daily in his personal and professional life”
unbelievable- What values does bubba have that were similar to Byrnsie? Reverse Racism?
bubba thanked the son, and went right into his attention seeking ‘oh poor me’ routine- whining about what a tough year it has been, and how much he has had to endure-
what a drama queen he has turned into
But boo hoo- bubba wrecked out and wasn’t eligible for the all star race-
I never understood what in the world the attraction was to watching cars go around in a circle.
never liked who? Tony? Or the other fella?
I saw that. It's still kr@p.
NASCAR at Watkins Glen moved me like none of their other stuff.
But then I had my Dad drive the fam station wagon around the course with all of us in the 60s...
Seriously tho. If you knew anything about Nascar you would know Bubba Smollet drives for THE Richard Petty.
Tony.
Well I don’t like the guy either but the number belongs to Richard Petty.
Well, whatever floats your boat I guess. Watkins Glen, NY? Saw the Grateful Dead there in 1973.. think that was the year. Man what a show.
Pretty clearly.
I’ve never understood why people who are ignorant of what it feels like to drive a high-performance vehicle on the edge feel compelled to show their stupidity so publicly.
I’m with you.
But, my understanding is it is the speed at which dozens of cars travel often separated by mere inches and jockeying for position waiting for the slightest of opportunities to make a move towards the front of the pack and the resultant catastrophe that very often results.
In fact, as I understand it, the drivers are not always acting as individuals. They are often acting in teams and they will coordinate to block other teams when they get the chance.
Even to the point of purposefully taking someone out and often causing major multi-car crashes as a result. It can be like a near 200 MPH Demolition Derby.
I’m a road race fan myself.
yeah i never did either- fantastic driver- but horrible personality- Seen him be pretty rotten to people- even to a young kid that was thrilled to be racing against him (in iracing- online racing simm), got excited, jumped the start- tony jumped all over him for it- That wasn’t cool at all of him to do to that kid- it was an honest mistake by the kid- tough guy tony though just had to humiliate the poor kid infront of everyone- That pretty much sealed it for me- treating young fans like that-
"King Richard" no longer owns Richard Petty Enterprises, so his role appears to be limited to that of a corporate figurehead, a famous guy who waves to the crowd. The #43 livery is controlled by the (new owner) corporation; RP no longer has any say in it.
it’s the skill that draws people- just like any other sport- only this one is mega high speed, dangerous, and takes a tremendous amount of skill- the cars are almost always right on the edge of grip, going around corners at 150 mph- any faster and the tires lose grip- and that’s that-
We appreciate the tremendous skill it takes to drive right o nthe edge like that- every track is different, has different ‘danger zones’ where drivers must adapt to (soem do so differently than others- you can see it in the liens and speeds they take the corner at)- and watchign for them to take the chances they do to pass whiel still maintaining that knife edge traction/grip of tires on pavement-
one little miscalculation, and that’;s it- to appreciate how tough it is- they have to hit the corners the exact same way practically, every single time- hundreds of times- while the heat i nthe car is broiling-
Pick up a racing simm for your computer- you’ll discover very quickly just how tough it is, and how m uch skill it takesto race fast, clean, and not wipe out-
That’s what fans appreciate about it- just liek any sport- we appreciate hteir hard work, their tremendous skill- their fearlessness- their dedication to gaining just a TENTH OF A SECOND A LAP whiel their tires are losing traction due to wear-
Study drivers like Jackie Stewart in F1- Wow- that dude was fearless and a master-
But of course ya gotta liek and appreciate this kind of skill to liek the sport- but no- it’s not just ‘driving around in a circle’- there way more to it than that-
[[Even to the point of purposefully taking someone out and often causing major multi-car crashes as a result.]]
No- there’s big heavy fines and suspensions, loss of income, and loss of sponsorship if officials who investigate crashes determine it was intentional- They keep a very close eye on these things-
but yeah- bumper to bumper at 200 mph is intense- and exciting- nerve wracking- trying desperately not to make a mistake- by just an inch or two- wind pushing your car all around- draft from car in front and back pushing your car all around- it’s a wild wild ride- (I do onlien racing- so i get a little bit of the feel for it- without the risk of course)
The 312 Thunderbird engine. Did it have a Paxton supercharger like Studebaker used in the Golden Hawks? That was a badass setup.
I dunno.
The car says it is supercharged.
That would be sweet.
I have 5 Turbo-charged vehicles in the stable at the moment and living at 4100 ft altitude, they get the job done.
Most NASCAR races are at much lower altitudes.
