You’re confusing best-practice prophylactic measures with what’s going on at the grocery store.
Maybe the sick dude at the grocery store should have stayed home, like I would, if I were sick. But, haven’t seen any coughing, sweaty, pallid guys at the grocery store lately. If I did, I’D go home.
What, they don’t hang their mask from their ears when they have to take a phone call, and then toss it in the cupholder of their car to use tomorrow?
They most certainly don’t do that. I totally agree there’s plenty of improper usage going around with the masks as currently used out in public, but I would also argue it’s better than nothing and can be improved with some simple guidance.

Correct. Plus, it’s not the percent of oxygen that’s important, it’s the partial pressure of oxygen. At sea level, air pressure is 14.7 psi. Oxygen 20.9% gives oxygen 3.07 psi. Mask at sea level 17.0% oxygen 2.50 psi. Denver, 12.1 psi, oxygen 20.9% 2.53 psi. With mask 17.0% 2.06 psi.
So, wearing a mask is about the equivalent of being another mile above sea level. A few people get altitude sickness in Denver, and may need extra oxygen while wearing a mask.

There are a lot of folks in this thread that must be old, fat smokers. I never read so many stories about weak lungs. It’s amazing most of them have mAnaged to stay alive this long.

I assume you are going to be wearing a mask for the rest of your life because there are many other diseases out there other than Covid 19. Just because they get some type of vaccine, the vaccine will not be full proof, just like the flu vaccines. I advise you to keep your mask on at all times because there are many diseases more contagious than Covid. Good luck.

How about if they REALLY insist, just unbutton your shirt grab with ‘weak’ hand and pull it over your nose.
If bandana ‘good’ should be just as good, of course ‘watch’ them say that your shirt was ‘exposed’ - like the mask isn’t....
And I just ‘love’ the leaders standing there with the mask dangling below the chin and NO ONE SAYS ANYTHING, yet when PDJT stands at the podium sans mask they vilify him.

If they just showed a little ‘consistency’ may be easier to go along but they are ridiculous, especially since the SG has said on a few occasions that they are ‘no good’ in the concept we were expected to use them.
Also nice when PDJT takes potshots at WHO, his ‘hand picked’ task force has ridiculed CDC, SG has ‘different’ ideas then the rest of them,
