I did absolutely zero research. It was in a very old “Saturday Evening Post” actually goes all the way back to Pepin of Landen around 600.
I just got my DNA results yesterday. 60% England, Wales, Normandy, and Britanny. 35% Scotland and Ireland and 5% Norse
Maps showed Iceland, Skye and the Hebrides. Also Places in France plus of course England and Wales.
We should probably getbtogether sometime and see if we have matches. Did you have any Bruces from the Carolinas or did yours come in up north?

My Great Aunt was the genealogy nut of the family, she swore to her dying day we came down from Robert the Bruce the same way, and, given the books available at the time, she had reason to believe it, and her parents and grandparents through to the Carolinas believed it. She had all her DAR Is and Ts crossed ... they no doubt still have her work archived somewhere still, and she traveled all over the eastern US and to Scotland and all to look at decords there too...so she was trying to prove it. She was in good faith looking for what records could be found to at least get back into the 1600s, but did not have DNA to add to the paper, of course. Problem was, she also believed a handwritten 'diary' about another ancestor line in Virginia that while a fun read with some truth to it...turned out to be a mid 1800s hoax published in an old history magazine. In that case people are still citing it long after it was exposed.

My DNA says I’m 59% English, Welsh, and Northwestern Europe. My Dad was born in Holland, but his family line is very short...all peasants. I’m also 35% Germanic Empire, which nobody in my family knew about. It was a big surprise to me because I’m not a fan of Germany at all. I’ve also got 2% each of Scotland/Ireland, Sweden and Norway. A regular mongrel.
