Maybe the cops could have done something different. Maybe one of them could have grabbed the old guy by his shirt, and moved him aside. I don’t know. But here’s one thing I do know. If the old guy was setting a trap, then the police fell right into it.

I won’t hold that against him. He appointed Sessions out of loyalty to the man, who turned around, and stabbed him in the back. That’s something the President didn’t know, or even contemplate happening at the time he nominated him.

It was a provocateur. There is footage of him prior to the encounter, and he was only there 30 minutes ahead of that.
And in that 30 minutes a person of color calls it out that old guy, old hippie old leftist on par with the age of Bill Ayres head of the weather underground, he points out that the old man is trying to provoke a bunch to his face. He went down there to incite violence. He is literally inches away with his phone scanning or almost touching the officers.

If the old guy was setting a trap, then the police fell right into it. The cases where the trap fails are not publicized.
