I had a cousin - a civil engineer for the state of Missouri - who died in a lawn tractor accident about 20 years ago. My father wrote that he was honored to serve as a pallbearer and a participant in Masonic ... er ... recognition? ... for my cousin, but, “Tim died of stupid. He’d been on tractors his entire life. He knew better.”
I have a term for folks mourning the loss of a loved one.
Grief-logic.
People say the wrong things and make dumb decisions as they work through their grief and put their life back together.
ie. Member of MS-13 killed in a gun battle. Mothers statement given to the press “Lil Donny was such a good boy,.....”
You are generous about people. Sometimes I’m generous. Maybe I’ll be generous tomorrow.
