“Every month we get another miracle battery story.”
I am old. I remember the miracle carburetor stories.
Build and test a working prototype, then get back to me.

I’m not ancient but I do remember the farts of mules/horses
while walking behind them plowing.
The exploding phone stories went away very quickly.
Tesla will get it right when he invents a dark energy transformer.

Great if true. Not holding my breath.
early Tesla Model S cars suggests that as many as two-thirds of those early Model S drivetrains will need to be replaced within 60,000 miles.

More Musk BS gotta get that stock up.

I always wonder if they are laughing inside. My dad told me the horses would try to get him not to select them that day to plow. He preferred tractors much more, except when he had to work on them.

Yep... did a bit of research on that one some years ago among other things and it was true.
It was an amazing invention. Too bad the inventor didn’t account for Big Oil changing the fuel formulation.
It’s the transmissions that have been failing at a high rate.
Then Tesla demands disappointed owners sign an NDA as a condition of replacement.
The article mentions 2nd & 3rd lives for the battery in the electric power grid. That suggests people would use the battery in a vehicle until the vehicle wore out or became obsolete. Then the battery would be used to store electricity for the power grid. That is already being done — you charge the battery at night when rates are cheap, and sell it back to the grid during peak hours. Depending on the cost/kWh for the battery storage, that can be quite profitable.
There would be an after-market for the batteries, which would reduce the cost of ownership for the cars. Some people could even sell back some power every day they own the car — which would offset part or even all of the cost of the electricity they use for driving.
A battery pack good for 1MM miles would absolutely be a game-changer.

Funny, but when I researched the “Pogue” (SP?) miracle carb it was not a suppressed secret at all, drawings were and probably are readily available.
There is only so much energy available in fuel, lean burn tech does not work well with any carb.
As much as Fuel Injection annoys me it is much more capable of meeting the alleged claims of the “Suppressed” carb than any actual carb could ever be.
With 3D printing easily available just make one and prove me wrong!
And Tesla still sucks.
Oooooo, another stock manipulating miracle announcement from Elon!
Still to be rendered obsolete the moment “Slow discharge capacitors” are perfected.
Another tech with breathless announcements at fairly regular intervals.
SDC are also “Making steady progress” at several research labs and universities.
And they become more like potential bombs as well...
Same here. I have a Surefire LED flashlight with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery that is brighter than the headlights on my car.
There should be a new name for it, for all it resembles the unreliable and dim “flashlights” of my youth.
I'm smiling. A month ago I posted on FR that people should buy Tesla stock, it was a little over $500 a share, and mentioned that it would double. I wasn't thinking it would happen so quickly, closed just under $1000 today. Smiling because I bought some.
Ford is panicking because all their apples are into selling trucks, but Tesla is going big into truck manufacturing, using their profits from sedans and SUVs to sell cheap trucks. Ford may sell a lot of cars now; check back in 5 years to see how they're doing.
