The most vulnerable get sick first and get all of the attention. Once the virus sweeps through the most at risk it appears to slow down because it runs into healthy people with strong immune systems.

Also, the treatment is getting better. To say that the decrease in respirators use shows the virus weakening is dumb when it is now known that respirators were actually exacerbating the symptoms. Treatment now calls for less invasive breathing assistance (Cpap).

There are no genetic studies indicating that the virus changed. The only thing that has changed is perceptions.

Meanwhile, the potent viruses spread quickly, while their sluggard brethren are just too lazy to spread. Before long, the ambitious, potent viruses far outnumber the sluggards, and the virus gets more and more virulent.

The 81 base pairs (27 genes) lost are identical in competition and location to the 81 base pairs (27 genes) that disappeared from COV-1 in 2003, prior to COV-1 disappearing in 2004.
