This Mayor is way beyond her authority! DC is the seat of government under CONGRESSIONAL rule.
The Constitution create DC as the Federal seat of government. ONLY Congress has the power over DC, not the mayor! Mayor is a steward, a subordinate to congress having authority to manage civilian affairs in DC. And she has the gall to criticize others of disobeying the constitution?
She cannot commandeer any structure or place, change the name of street, a sign or a building... kick out the national guard or do ANYTHING in DC without congressional approval, ZERO! What she is doing is prohibited in the constitution by Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17. But she routinely attacks others for not obeying the constitution. Typical lefty hypocrisy. Laws for thee but not for me when it doesn’t benefit them.
The prohibition of statehood for DC is enshrined in the Constitution. Article 1, Section 8, Clause 17 which reads, “The Congress shall have Power To …exercise exclusive Legislation in all Cases whatsoever, over such District (not exceeding ten Miles square) as may, by Cession of particular States, and the Acceptance of Congress, become the Seat of the Government of the United States.”
