OMG your fear mongering is why this exactly why half this country is in a fetal position WE are Americans BUCK UP!! Take your damn mask off and go outside, I am 66 with my 90 years old mother in my home, I have been out running around since this damn thing started UNMASKED, washed my hands regularly sanitized my shopping cart handles AND both my mom and I are just fine!!!
Heart disease kills about 650.000 a year in the US.
Cancer kills about 600,000 a year in the US.
COPD and strokes kill about 150,000 each a year in the US.
None of these have caused us to shut down the economy.
Like these diseases, COVID-19 kills primarily the elderly and infirmed.
Additionally, we have no idea what the actual COVID-19 death numbers are.
All lives are precious, but we need to continue on.
What good would a quarantine do for cancer, heart disease, COPD, or strokes. There were reasons for the quarantine. One was due to the novel nature of the virus and no clear indications of how deadly it actually was. If you want to second guess POTUS, in hindsight, you're only helping our enemies on the other side. Can we learn something from this - sure we can, and have.
I am not second guessing the President. I am second guessing the Governors who shut down their economies.
Nine states never shut down and their numbers are better than those that did.
Good for you. Glad to see you are taking steps to improve both your and your mom's chances of not catching CV. Masks would certainly improve the odds. I've never called for shutting down the economy, only to seal the borders months ago and to take precautions, as you and your mom are taking along with wearing appropriate PPE.
There's no substitute for a common sense approach. Certainly many of these Democratic mayors and governors have taken the quarantine effort to the extreme. Don't confuse their actions with the precautions you, I, and many others are taking, unless you call the precautions you're taking "fear mongering", because we all have levels of precaution we're comfortable with.
My level just happens to include the wearing of a mask in certain situations, along with eye protection in the form of motorcycle riding glasses which have foam seals around the frames. But then I own three motorcycles and it's something I wear quite often anyway. I also use masks on a regular basis in the hobbies I enjoy and work I do.

I am not hoping for that. But, we are not dealing with rational people here anymore.
In that case, we're in agreement. In my mind some carried the quarantine to an extreme beyond what was necessary.
This has been a eyeopener for me in that regard. So much emotion over logical thinking doesn't help and certainly won't help when/if things get worse from repercussions. It's going to be everyone for themselves at some point, if we can't all work together against a common threat. Thank God DJT is our POTUS at this time in our history.
The good news is that the idiots you see constantly on FR are in such a small minority they are not making an impact.
I am sick to death of seeing American in fear of a damn virus, I have lived through Polio, Smallpox, Measles, Hong Kong flu, Asian flu, H1N1, HIV, Ebola and NEVER once did I see my fellow citizens running around in masks and overcome with fear!! Our citizens running around in masks looks like we are living in China, it is also a reminder of how afraid we should be of contracting some damn virus!!
Did you take the Polio vaccination? If so, then perhaps you suffer from PTSD from being forced to take the vaccine? Or more likely you're just some schizoid emotional hyperbole who thinks the world must conform to their ideal of reality?
If it bothers you that greatly to see someone wearing a mask in public, then maybe you need mental counseling? My wife and I just returned from our local grocery and EVERYONE had a mask on. There wasn't a single person without one on. Maybe it's the new fad/reality. Maybe it's why we're really seeing the numbers of those coming down with CV dropping now?
