[This procedure that made the jihadi a US citizen is almost the same as that which US armed forces personnel have to employ when their children are born on a leased US Base overseas, (depending on the SOFA agreement with the host nation), to prevent their being citizens of that nation as well.
This is why such children cannot be considered as Article II eligible for POTUS. They are US citizens by statutes.]
Since in practice, no federal court has ruled this way, I expect this limitation applies to GOP nominees alone, by way of discerning primary voters.

There are some circumstances where the child of an American citizen doesn’t get citizenship, but they are the exceptions rather than the rule.
