If it’s less than an inch, allow it to be our missiles and their ships that collide.

I’m 5 years retired, so starting to get a little behind. The surface mode can use a manually operated joystick to designate targets or be sent engagements from the weapons control system, depending on platform. There are lots of weapons for swarm attacks, and CIWS is just one of them.

Both the A-10 and Ghostrider cover the area - as well as some helicopters; so there’s more than just the individual ships armament.

NO, and they are on the back burner funding-wise, as the material science to make them work does not exist yet.

Are you sure about that? The range probable error for those guns was 112 meters at 34,000 yards (19.3 miles).

Why should we bother sinking them? They’re doing it themselves.

How many rounds can 1 CWIS gun ‘turret’ fire off, in say a sustained diaper head small boat kamikaze swarm attack, before the barrels get to hot to function properly? Is it an issue that has ever been explored? I would think it would have been at some point of the weapon’s testing. Thanks ET.

Gotta admire their ability to hit their own ships. That’ll come in handy some day if their leaders visit one. :^)
