one of the writers has form - can’t be botherered checking the other:

6 Apr: AP: Trump slams watchdog report on hospitals engulfed by virus
By RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR
WASHINGTON - President Donald Trump on Monday disputed the veracity of a federal survey that found hospitals faced severe shortages of coronavirus test supplies, questioning whether its conclusions were skewed by politics...
Three out of 4 U.S. hospitals told the inspector general’s office they are already treating patients with confirmed or suspected COVID-19, and they expect to be overwhelmed...

Asked by a reporter about the survey’s finding on testing, Trump responded, “It is wrong.”
“So, give me the name of the inspector general?” he asked before suggesting without evidence, “Could politics be entered into that?”
Acting in the role of HHS inspector general is Christi A. Grimm, a career government manager who took over the position early this year in an interim capacity. “When was she appointed?” Trump asked.

Trump’s comments carried an edge because last Friday he announced the firing of the inspector general of the intelligence community, Michael Atkinson, for reporting to Congress the whistleblower complaint that the president tried to enlist Ukraine in investigating Joe Biden’s son...

Defending Grimm was former inspector general Daniel Levinson, who retired last year after serving in three administrations, including Trump’s. Grimm has “a sterling reputation, earned over many years, for sound independent judgment,” Levinson said in a statement. “Nothing in her longstanding career of public service would suggest otherwise.”...

The HHS inspector general’s report was based on a telephone survey of 323 hospitals around the country, from March 23-27...

Ann Maxwell, an assistant inspector general at the Department of Health and Human Services: “It’s likely that every hospital in America is going to have to deal with this,” Maxwell said. There are about 6,000 hospitals in the U.S...

Fauci feels if citizens had private limousine drivers there would be fewer highway deaths.

Fauci feels if all food was cut up into 1/8 inch cubes there would be fewer choking deaths.

Fauci feels if a licensed electrician checked every home once a week there would be fewer home fires...

Fauci feels if people didn't leave their homes they would not catch this virus.

Fauci is right on all of the above... and if all of us were multimillionaire like Fauci we could do all of the above...

Ricardo again...with the other writer, Lauran Neergaard, plus the spooky Jill Colvin, Freking Kevin & more!

13 Apr: ABC: Associated Press: Signs missed and steps slowed in Trump’s pandemic response
The Trump administration response to the cononavirus pandemic has been marked by missed signs and delays
By JONATHAN LEMIRE, ZEKE MILLER, JILL COLVIN and RICARDO ALONSO-ZALDIVAR; Associated Press writers Deb Riechmann, Kevin Freking and Lauran Neergaard also contributed to this report.
By the time President Donald Trump first spoke publicly about the coronavirus, it may already have been too late...
Twenty current and former administration officials and Republicans close to the White House were interviewed for this account about the critical weeks lost before the president spoke to the nation on Feb. 26. Most spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about private discussions...

That is the classic second-guess (a practice I despise). You say something like that, then the caveat you pose comes to pass (a thousand people die, or maybe just one), and you get to say, “Told ya”. But if nobody dies, nobody remembers or cares about your caveat. The second-guesser is seldom held to account.

Proverbs 22:13 The slacker says, ‘There’s probably a lion in the street; I might be killed if I go outside.’

I have had to coach my wife on this point. For instance, the safety of the car we ride in is considered my responsibility. If, however, we’re about to take a trip and she asks “Are you sure the tires are safe?”, I can get pretty steamed. That is a second-guess. I might say in response, “Well, they’re only relatively safe and that is always true. Do you think we ought to stay home then?”

On my list of likely candidates for the spread of the virus among the White House staff, Fauci is number one. I hope the proper people are keeping a close eye on him and Brix.

Like in Georgia? Oh, re-opening against Fauci’s advise there didn’t result in more suffering or death. The cases have steadily declined.

Fauci is a gloom and doom boomer.

He has no plan or metrics for reopening safely.

Trump should replace him with someone more forward thinking.

I have no blinders. A vaccine is part of the puzzle if we are able to develop one. It is not the panacea

we’ve been duped into believing it’s supposed to be part of the puzzle and yet, it does way more damage than good.
