I think you are missing the point. Stress from the virus is a very small part. It is the cumulative stress of the permanently ruined economic prospects that causes the main problems.

I don't think I'm missing the point, I just think it's a ridiculous assertion.

• Economic prospects are not permanently ruined for most people. It's a short term set back.
• I think he pulled 90 times as many years out of his butt. There's no way you could ever quantify that.
• He included "legitimate concerns about the virus itself", so you can't attribute that to the shutdown. That was going to happen regardless.
• He didn't consider the stress of getting the virus, having it for 4 to 6 weeks, having a 2 to 4 week hospital stay and the $400,000 to $600,000 bill that goes with that stay.
• And he didn't consider the cost, the quality of life and years lost due to permanent damage from the virus.

I just think he's trying to argue against the lock downs using an argument with numbers pulled out of his ass.

That makes such a difference at deathbeds, too. Ask a nurse (we had some in our family) about the difference between believers and non-believers as certain death approaches.
