Yep. I’ve known Iranians here over the decades afraid to go home both for fear they wouldn’t be allowed to leave again—and also uncomfortable with the environment in which you never know what friends or neighbors might be snitching for expressing anything other than support for the government.
Waiting in line to get into a supermarket, then not knowing what you’re going to find on the shelves. Sound familiar?
