The number of counties that are red or blue is irrelevant. It's where the people live that count the most for obvious reasons.
It's just a bit inconvenient that many of the red counties are rural and sparsely populated, but they carry a heavy work load. They must make up in total, the urban and suburban vote that goes to the dems.
I'm concerned it is getting more difficult for these counties to make up the difference. As we saw in 2018, they did not come close since the Trump voters who seldom vote did not show up.

This isn’t false. It is true. The state is trending DemoKKKrat, but has hit a plateau in voter reg since 2017 with a +1D advantage.
