While tariffs put on Chinese made products imported to the USA is great idea an even better ides is to put tariffs on entire product classes import from all countries. That will force the repatriation of industry quickly instead of just moving production to the next 3rd world slave market.

Paying a few pennies on the dollar more for one time inflation is not really pain.

What has happened is war. I look at history and see America used to handle things differently. America needs to stand up to China. They need to be punished and they need to feel the anger and know if they do anything else,they will regret it.

Losing thousands of jobs when China retaliates and exports to China drop dramatically is pain for those impacted.
Let's see about this potential "massive" loss in Chinese exports.
The US economy is $22T and exports to red China are $150B annually. Doing the math that is .7% of the US GDP. No big loss. If it goes down 10% that is $15B/yr. OTH the economic upside will be in the trillions. Math is your friend.
So is imagination.
