Yep, got it .. thanks
“I dont expect this will harm his career at all.”
Oh, it will change his situation. Unceremoniously removing a command officer from such a lofty position for the reasons they did is telling in itself. This wasn’t a promotion and they had to replace him with a higher ranked officer until they could find someone to do the job which now includes recovering military discipline as was displayed when he left the carrier.
The military has changed over the last 20 years, quite dramatically. The acceptance of deviations from discipline have become the norm rather than the guided needs of the business. Things like the allowance of religious beliefs to overstep the mission are visible. The uniforms standards accept burkas, beards, longer hair, and the lack of discipline to even wear it right, are common. Before anyone opens up about the beards being normal in the military, those beards are not conducive to getting a mask seal which is part of the business today. They won’t be able to wear a MOP kit.
Lower ranking individuals are being allowed to speak out to the command and have a say in the way things are done, not the real important parts of the mission they could be contributory to. (Can’t turn down enough minds)
The losing captain has created, with his actions, a multiple of problems that will have to be cleaned up. And considering the vessel is the size of a small town, 5000 assigned, it is going to be a monster of a task as now every command that comes down will be questioned by sailors that are not in the know of why it is being done and don’t have a reason to, even if it’s in their best interest of safety/protection. They aren’t taught to make those decisions, and have no responsibility to make them. But they want a say in them knowledgeable or not displayed by their actions. Good luck on that one as you can’t stop people from being opinionated to the point of sharing it which will erase the discipline that took years to instill. Especially now that that theory will be self discipline much more than before on the ship because that’s where it will have to start. On a nuclear vessel including an air wing of 2400 and around 100 fixed and helos, sparrows and Rims. and nuclear reactors, this country doesn’t need questions, we need commitment and conformity. And we need our confidence of whose pushing the buttons. That may be in question and it should never be.

Man, that was a jack ass move, it really was.
He's from San Francisco. He's probably planning a career in politics and thought he'd make a name for himself right now. Look for him on the cover of Rolling Stone in the next month or two. I want to be the first to predict that.
The next "Commander Mark" Kelly perhaps.
(interesting how Democrats never mention that fact on their signs...)
This was only his second CO position, and the first was a ship 1/5 the size of a carrier, and it was in dry dock. How he went from that to the CO of the Roosevelt definitely bears looking into. That seems like a leap from mayor of Pottersville to Governor of NY in one step. He clearly wasn't ready.
He also says that Crozier and his Chief of Staff communicated several times by email later that day. I doubt he would lie about this, as he will have to produce those emails during the investigation.
