I agree. It’s time to face unpleasant facts. This is the real deal and our chances of containing it are slim moving towards zero. Time to go to Medical DEFCON 2. We are in the early stages of a global pandemic. With a little over 200 confirmed cases in the US the time is NOW to start taking drastic measure like what Italy has done. Unfortunately Italy waited far too long. We need to close schools and colleges. Ban mass entertainment including concerts and sporting events. Advise people to avoid traveling in an environment where they will be in close quarters with large numbers of other people except in the most urgent circumstances. Tell restaurants to shift to a take out mode of service. Hospitals should be put on alert and told to prepare for a mass epidemic and to be ready to cancel all elective medical procedures and to refuse patients not suffering from serious illness or injuries. We should start recruiting and training volunteers to help if/when the medical infrastructure starts straining under the weight of tens of thousands of seriously ill people. This is so contagious it will almost certainly take out people in the medical profession. We need to start planning for the rapid conversion of buildings into mass isolation/quarantine wards for people who need to be isolated with minor cases or who are awaiting a 14 day quarantine following possible exposure. And we need to start making contingency plans for the disposal of thousands of bodies. The odds of being able to contain this thing are getting close to zero. But a firm resolve and willingness to take the extreme steps needed could still save thousands of lives.

Covid-19 shares 80% of the SARS genome. They are both virulent coronaviruses. MERS was another one.
SARS and MERS had a higher mortality rate. Covid-19 has a higher transmission rate so it’s spreading faster and farther, and more people should be infected than by SARS and MERS
Covid-19 has already split into two strains, one being less virulent. Wuxan is dealing with the more deadly strain.
I’m not worried. This is a CHRISTIAN nation and not some atheistic power like China or a decadent, socialist, “post-Christian” European society.
God will protect His people. I expect to see COVID19 in corrupt, liberal urban areas that are teaming with illegals and filth. But the real America will be mostly untouched. I have not entered a major city in 30-plus years and am not going to start now.
