I do not believe the state of California has any such number of people to be monitored identified.

I decided to look up what Newsom actually said:

Newsom said some of the cases being monitored were individuals who had returned from to the U.S. on repatriation flights from other parts of the world.

"Over 800 people have come in on those flights but that is a small part of the overall picture," Newsom said.

"Thousands and thousands of other people have come in on more traditional flights through the state of California," Newsom continued. "8,400 plus are currently being monitored, with 49 local jurisdictions doing those protocols and monitoring as it relates to more traditional commercial flights which came in from points of concern and potential points of contact, particularly in Asia."

I'm not sure how they would know about who took such flights. How would they get that? So he was probably lying. His statement that they were "monitoring" 8,400 people apparently was interpreted by the stock market as that they knew of that many who had the symptoms, which he didn't say anyway. So the freaking market crashed. Unbelievable.

The 3M website page for their 8210 N95 mask says

Advanced electrostatic media is designed for ease of breathing

If I am interpreting that correctly, that means the fibers in the media can grab even quite small particles as they go by. But, does that effect wear off with time of use and amount of particulates accumulated in the filter media? Or does that same particle accumulation gradually restrict the paths through the media?

I do remember wearing these in work conditions where the exertion lead to sweat, and then breathing became quite difficult...

BTW, that link was very erratic and slow about opening, late this evening. I guess the website is getting slammed.
