I agree with you. I'm sure there are many extended relatives that Buffett has that could use some of that money. My first impression when I heard that interview was that it was also mean (would he have foreclosed?). But she seemed so normal and unaffected that it must have worked out OK.

I was in Omaha, a few years ago, visiting several relatives and decided to see Buffett's house. It is just a normal, regular house he has had for over 50 years. Other than a chain link fence around it, and tourists gawking at it, (their poor neighbors! - there were street cameras around the block surrounding the house - parking at a premium from gawkers like me), you would never know a billionaire lived there.
