Oddly enough, that 30% depressed turn out coincides with Trump’s recent rallies where 20%-25% attending are Democrats.
GOP turnout was a record for a non-contested (practically) caucus. That is how it turned out. The GOP voters are super motivated. In short, this aint 2018 (unless something changes) and Trump will have coattails.
Although Trump ran virtually uncontested in the Iowa caucuses, he still had more than 30,000 people show up to vote for him. The previous record for an incumbent president turnout occurred in 2012, when 25,000 voted in the Iowa caucuses to re-elect Obama.
That is frankly shocking.
I thought between the four years of Trump hatred and the smorgasbord of freebie goodies up for vote they would have been storming the fences.
