My dad was a 20yr old paratrooper in the mountain
jungles of Leyte when they told him he could
register and vote. Not wanting to “change horses in
the middle of the stream” he registered Democrat and
voted for FDR. When he died in 2015 he held a PhD
in education and was still a Democrat. But he never
voted for any liberal candidate or cause and his most
prized photo was of him and others w/Gov Reagan
honoring the Future Farmers of America organization.

Agreed. If the Pubs don't win the House (assuming they hold the Senate), outside of judges, not much gets done. Some might be ok with that (do no more harm), but I believe the opportunity to do good, and especially to reduce harm, is much greater. As Trump said, he was not elected to do little things.

It may be that the President has to lay it on the line: "If you don't vote for Republican Reps. and Senators, then don't vote for me, because voting a split ticket ensures 4 more years of this B.S."

It'd be a risky strategy, in more ways than one.

I agree completely. I don't think it's unreasonable to say that we're closer to some form of civil war in the next eight years, than we have been since the Civil War. We are nearly evenly divided politically and philosophically, and both sides are getting madder every year. Something's going to break that psychological barrier.
