I'm going to make that into two questions. First, this dude is not a whistleblower, so no right to anonymity.
If he was a whistleblower, "Federal employees should be aware that no federal law exists that entitles whistleblowers the statutory right to remain anonymous." That said, anonlymity, if requested, is tried to be protected in order to reduce the probability of retaliation - at least that is in principle. The practical reality is that the federal government work environment is a brutal and unforgiving jungle. Plus it is dishonest and corrupt.
The president’s team is restoring my faith in the legal community.
Once the charges are validated, the individual is protected from punishment or retaliation, but not from having others know his identity.
