People in the area reportedly didn’t hear a loud explosion.
“Had no idea we had such a thing.”
We have a lot of strange flavors of special purpose aircraft in small numbers.
The Bombardier BD-700 Global Express is a twin-engine long-range corporate jet aircraft with a capacity (max) of 19 passengers produced by the Canadian manufacturer Bombardier Aerospace. Early reports said it was the size of a B-737.
What brought it down? Those planes don’t just ‘go down’. Something had to have taken it out.
The BACN system is so muscular that ground teams can use to make cell phone calls and texting, photos, directly to assets overhead, pilots, gunners, evac, etc.
That’s awesome.
Me neither, and I’ve only been retired for 4 years (and did ELINT, etc. most of my last 10 years).

Not a shoot down.
Could be as portcall24 suggested, a fire onboard. But claims by Taliban that it was shot down are nothing but rumor/propaganda at this point.
So much is intact & it’s on its belly....looks like the pilots tried their best to land it
Agreed, latest report was a mechanical problem. Also, that there only 3 on board.
You better invest in Tylenol.
My kid used to work in the back of an RJ135. They didnt get parachutes. Just axes and other tools to destroy the sensitive equipment on the way down.
I’m guessing at this point after reading posts, that it appears to me that they knew they were going to crash and destroyed everything inside so no one else could get it.

FreeRepublic is wonderful with such experts to explain what is really going on. Most of us think that anything that flies can fall out of the sky, after all two Space Shuttles crashed. Now we know that certain planes "don't just 'go down'. We learn something new every day around here. You should be working on the Kobe Bryant investigation.

Ah, that’s an excellent thought
Not really electronic warfare; it’s a relay platform for various radio and datalink systems. We have aircraft that can’t share info with each other, and radio comms in Afghanistan are challenging due to terrain/line-of-sign issues. The E-11A has the ability to relay and “translate” signals into formats that can be used by other platforms.
They also have the same relay package on a handful of Global Hawk drones; between the E-11 and the drones, they provide 24-hour coverage.
