See, but they blame the Russians for not helping them out during Warsaw Uprising.
The reason of Polish misfurtunes are stupid politicians. They didn’t have a smart leader since Pilsudsky. And they didn’t have smart leaders for a long time before him too.
I am not Germanic or English (or Roman or Slavic); I have no horse in this race.
Celtic people also live within a WASP system.
If the Russians didn't tell the Poles to begin the Uprising and that they would come there soon, you'd have a point.
But the fact is, the Russians gave all indications that they would help.
The European global domination was established in the Age of Exploration. It was certainly dominated by the Portuguese and was possible mostly due to a Hispanic technology. That was primarily a caravel - a relatively heavy advanced sailship capable to sail against the wind and related navigation technologies and musket - a first truly practical firearm.
But then the same is true regarding US and Venezuelan, Iranian uprisings today.
‘Gave all the indicators’ is a shake matter.
While Spain, Portugal, and France were certainly responsible for a lot during the age of discovery, their former colonies today are backwaters; many former British colonies today are still ahead of the curve (including the US).
But these were not Home Army units taking direction from the Polish government in exile, although the AK may have cooperated with them against the Germans. These militias also fought Ukrainians and Ruthenians, and sometimes cooperated with the Germans against the Soviets.
Southeast Poland in 43-44 was very close to a Hobbesian war of all against all.
The Soviets killed many of the Poles who could lead a future resistance to communism when they invaded in 1939; it was deliberate, for that very reason. Even in exile, the Poles continued the war on Nazism from Britain - while the USSR amicably divided up Poland and the Baltic states with Hitler.
Well, Poland just demanded a restoration of its 1772 borders before the first partition.
In addition, the Soviet Union's plan was to annex Poland and move on to Germany, so I'm not quite sure who is the aggressor here.
That’s off-topic. Hispanics developed the first ocean-going vessels, they learnt longitude and latitude and how to determine it, they invented practical firearms.
Without caravel, carrack and muskets the European civilization couldn’t have been that it is.
Lol, thanks for helping me make my point. Neither will.
“” “” In addition, the Soviet Union’s plan was to annex Poland and move on to Germany, so I’m not quite sure who is the aggressor here.”” “”
That’s the possibility but not a historical fact.
The facts are that after the death of Pilsudsky Polish politics became schizophrenic and detached from reality. They believed they might be de-facto German allies and take advantage of Nazi mischief. I remember Churchill addressed it at the time in very harsh words. It was said here that Poland occupied a ‘railway junction’ in Czech Republic but this ‘junction’ upon occupation contributed to about 47% of Polish heavy industry. They were issuing ultimatum of annexation to Lithuania and right before the German invasion planned to negotiate with the Germans the Polish annexation of Ukrainian territory down to the Black Sea no gain ‘two seas’ or Miedzymorze status.
That was everything but defensive maneuvers.
Those countries accomplished great things for their time - then their time passed.
Yep, imagine the English trying to cross the Atlantic at the time. It could have taken plenty of rowing even given they had an idea in which direction to row and then the locals wouldn’t have been that much impressed with the English longbows and arrows. There were more locals and they had their bows too.
I guess English would have been more impressed with their first captured Spanish ship than people in area 51 with a flying saucer. Just to figure out how all that stuff works might have been an impossible task.
That somehow reminds how the Japanese got a Russian ship beached at Japan after storm. They managed to reverse engineers it but did everything wrong.
I don’t question the prowess of Spain/Portugal at the apex of their achievements; after that, they fell behind and were witnesses to the accomplishments of later centuries.
The Enslish destroyed the superior Spanish civilization with their greed and savagery. And it was just the beginning.
England left their former colonies in much better position to administer themselves as independent countries than Spain did; I don’t know what would make them any more savage (and I detest England).
English savagery has a lot to do with it. The Spanish were no less savaged than the Irish. Slavic race was subdued to no less degradation. The Russians managed to send digital pictures of Venus surface back to Earth in earlier 1980s. That involved no less advanced technology than the Spanish had 600 years ago comparing to the rest of the world.
For your information Venus surface is the most unfriendly place in known Universe ever visited by a human race.
“For your information Venus surface is the most unfriendly place in known Universe ever visited by a human race.”
I don’t even know what this means.
Have you ever heard about digital pictures at the time if you were ever alive in 1980 not to mention the aspects of intrasolar navigation at the time.
