Gilliam used to talk about comedy. Now he sounds like an old man beaten-down by political correctness.

When Gilliam says, “I want people to take responsibility and not just constantly point a finger at somebody else, saying, ‘You’ve ruined my life.’” he's talking about some women who, how shall I say this, 'let Harry has his way' in order to further their careers.

The casting couch works both ways and some women know how to use it to their benefit.

Weinstein certainly took advantage of women but it's also likely some women used Weinstein to their advantage.

> Terry Gilliam has invited renewed backlash after repeating his claim that he is a “black lesbian in transition” <

Well, I see his problem. He didn’t also claim to be a Muslim. That trumps all, dontcha know?

Gilliam made a mistake by tossing in Weinstein because he really is on to something but that will get lost now.

What else can he say...the PC/SJW movement is destroying comedy.

Terry Gilliam is the only American who was a member of Monty Python.

He didn’t appear in too many Python sketches, but was instead the creator of the distinctive Python animated bits that appeared between acts and during each show’s opening titles.

Terry Gilliam also achieved success as a director.

“tired, as a white male, of being blamed for everything that is wrong with the world”

Particularly frustrating given the white men are actually responsible for everything RIGHT with the world.

The casting couch works both ways and some women know how to use it to their benefit.

Of course. I actually feel bad for the first-timer that comes in, finds out how Hollywood really works, and has to decide if she's going to go into that quagmire on hopes that there will be a payoff or go find another job when she's basically got nothing in life.

Who I DON'T feel sorry for are the women who had a Hollywood career for 25 years, made half a billion dollars in that time, and then complain that they're such victims. They've had 25 years to go find something else in life.

True story, I work with a friend whose wife was an actor for awhile in the early 90s. Dead serious, she's been an actress in a couple of TV movies and a few small-time TV parts (out of respect for them, I'm not going to give her name out). Now he's working with me in aerospace and she's at home with kids. I asked her once about 10 years ago why she quit what seemed to be a pretty nice gig and a chance for some real money. She told me that the casting couch is real and she refuses to prostitute herself for acting work, that's just no way to go through life.

For all the Hollywood hookers that made the conscious choice to go down that road, LIVE WITH IT. Don't come around with your $500,000 car, $30 million house, half a billion in the bank, and cry victim. That ship sailed in 1995, girlfriend.

Gilliam is now a British citizen. (I suppose he is a dual citizen).

I feel a bit of sympathy for these Pythons (Cleese is another who has gotten in a bit of trouble for saying London was “no longer an English city”).

They made their hay being sarcastic, and funny, lefties, spoofing the crusty old-world British aristocracy - and now (though still being insufferable, though still funny, lefties), they are in the unenviable position of being persecuted for pointing out the (obvious) excesses that are the result of the success, in the cultural sphere, of the very leftism that they spent their lives championing.

Unintended consequences are a bitch. But then, adherence to a mathematically false* philosophy of life (leftism) has predictable consequences.

*Any philosophy the implementation of whcih results in 100+ MILLION deaths and near-universal poverty in every nation that has implemented it can rightly be called “mathematically false”.

Yep, and I don’t buy into the complaints from people that think they “have to” live in a certain place or “have to” work a certain job. We live in the land of the free and land of opportunity, it’s all out there for you to go get. I left my small town out west at 18 because I didn’t want to live with parents until age 30, struggling in entry-level jobs, only having a shot at a promotion when somebody retires or dies, and doing my damndest to not be homeless. I refuse to buy into sob stories from people who think they can’t do anything else in life.
