I stayed in Jedda for 2 weeks with an investor in a project of mine. He was very wealthy and connected. He also was a dual citizen (British/Saudi). He spoke English as well as me.
He had the most complete bar in his house that I’ve ever seen. The penalty for an average citizen for posessing alcohol is severe. He just laughed.
The entire middle East/Muslim culture is based largely on what they refer to as "honor". They have little else...the culture is insignificant in contributing to the arts, science, engineering, medicine, etc.
They perceive their "honor" as the only quality they have as their pathetic culture grows smaller and smaller in the rear view mirror of the rest of the civilized world.
