I agree the law is flawed and can be improved but that is not good reason not to make it mandatory as it is. Its better than nothing which is what we have now.

If you look up the southern border apprehension levels after employment verification first passed they were to next to nothing.

It lasted more than a year until it became apparent to everyone that the old INS had no intention of enforcing it.

E-verify in its current form is designed to be easy to subvert. Just like voter ID or the many welfare programs, it’s designed to be ineffective because the politicians that wrote the law want to bring illegals in, they want fraudulent voters, and they want ineligible people scamming the welfare system.

I live right in the middle of those Mississippi chicken plants that were raided, if you plot them on a map my house is pretty much in the middle of them. Everyone, and I mean everyone, around here has known that the vast majority of those workers were illegals for the last 30 years. The managers at those plants certainly knew they were illegals also, but they hide behind the e-verify system which is designed to be full of holes. It gives them plausible deniability so they can say “we ran him through the system”. It’s all BS, they know exactly what’s going on. It’s not hard to figure out who the illegals are when they’re living 20 to a broken down single wide trailer sitting in a pasture and buying tortillas from the local Wal-mart by the buggy full.
