Was does the “jury” get to decide the defense of the accused? System makes no sense if that’s how it actually works

“We’ll make that decision, not the president,” Graham added.”

Tells you everything you need to know about our betters.

Graham stating clearly the Senate will decide what POTUS defense will be.

They must be smoking crack.

“President Trump ...is running into stumbling blocks from an unusual corner: congressional Republicans.”

I am certain Pres T finds this quite usual.

The GOP swamp rats have been doing the same stuff that Biden did for decades. They are all afraid that if they go after Biden, someone will go after them.

Drain The Swamp!!

Could it be that their own children might come under scrutiny and could not stand up to it?

“A push by President Trump and conservatives to dig into Hunter Biden’s work in Ukraine is running into stumbling blocks from an unusual corner: congressional Republicans”

Let me get this straight.

It’s not proper to ask the country of origin to investigate corruption in their country.

OK then lets have our country (US) investigate that corruption. Can’t do that either.

If the investigate Hunter, all their kids will instantly be under the microscope, and don’t kid yourself, you’ll find a lot of them collecting paychecks they never earned...

Remember fresh out of college Chelsea and what her first payday was?

There is some piece of tactical consideration as to whether the Bidens should be questioned in Congress; in the Senate where the next phase of impeachment would occur. Nobody with functioning brain cells believes Hunter Biden attained his board seat for any purpose other than to pay off unca Joey.

But this is a situation where it may, just may make more sense to leave that issue hanging. Oh yeah, ASK to question the Bidens; leave it as a hanging peril. But leave it as a threat, not as an insistence. The reason to strategically hesitate is that if Trump is so insistent upon questioning the Bidens, it appears to be a retaliatory whataboutism to use the current happy meme. And furthermore; if the current main stroke of the impeachment push is that Trump asked for a Biden investigation as a political shanking of a potential opponent; then insisting upon deposing Biden in Congress would appear to ratify that accusation. It may also cost Trump support in the Senate as we have seen.

Just sayin’. The issue will not go away. Sometimes these issues are more threatening as threats rather than actualities. In other words, ASK for it, but be willing to give it up as a staged concession.

GOP voters will decide who they vote for, too.

Any Republican protecting Hunter is 100% compromised.

They need to get recalled, removed and investigated. I am sick of this crap!

Nobody was stupid enough to think Hunter and Joe kept all that money. The GOP is not only spineless, they can also be bought.

said, "run Third Party?"

Trump is outing the Bush's and the Koch Brothers. Why would he undermined his accomplishments?

I think the GOP will stab the President in the back when he needs them the most. The GOP will claim they try to protect the president then let him be removed from office.

“His lawyers, I presume, can ask for any witnesses they want. But I think we ought to keep focus on the articles of impeachment and not go down any rabbit trails,” said Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) told The Hill.

I will walk over hot coals to vote against that son of a bitch.

Asked about Trump floating that the Bidens should testify, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said he didn’t understand it as a "defense to the president.”

Of course it isn't. How foolish to even think it should be attached to the impeachment issue. This is a crime by the Bidens, no need to tie it to Trump's "defense."

“We’ll make that decision, not the president,” Graham added.

Well then do it. This is corruption and criminal and should be investigated.

Just because Trump brought it to the attention to the world is no reason to involve him.

Gimme a break!

Any Republicans involved in trying to keep the lid on the Biden scam is probably doing so to keep the investigation from exposing them.

In answer to your query about third party-NO. The problems won’t be fixed by rocking the boat so damned much it overturns.
