As a number of us have been saying, there are more ways of punishment than prison. For example, just the angst and uncertainty of now knowing if your dirty deeds will catch up to you...
And there are intangibles. What if a liberal minded person who hadn’t really done any leaking or lying him/herself but sympathized with those who had now decide to quit working for the US government. The threat of being caught could be a deterrent and we’d all be better off without these people.
I don’t understand the worry. I’m pretty sure I remember leftists encouraging targets that if they hadn’t done anything wrong, they should testify honestly.

I think this goes way above the analyst level. The CIA and/or FBI, DOS, DOJ, used foreign assets as surrogates to conduct an operation they were legally prohibited from.

You say that to manage expectations which is understandable, but no need to dismiss the details of the ongoing pursuit of necessary consequences.
I’m intrigued that the investigated folks are upset by being kept in the dark. It seems just fine with the dems to collude behind closed doors to impeach the President without any of his people being present.
