My girlfriend has been a counter worker for SW for over 35 years. She has to keep her politics to herself because she is surrounded by liberals. SW has allowed personnel to hire left wingers, liberals, and minorities to the detriment to the service of the airline. The minority hires are the worst with respect to efficiency and public courtesy. SW absorbed an all black airline and employees from Atlanta that have tainted the airline’s stellar service record.
Dressed? Absolutely. From my first flight when I was 12, my father made sure I was in a blazer with a tie. Later on it was suits every time. Cigarettes, free booze starting when I was about 16 or so. In the later ‘60’s, it was no problem going into one of the heads and firing up a joint just after reaching cruising altitude. All the tobacco smoke and really good ventilation masked the pot smell.

I personally have a friend that worked for USDA and for simply posting on her FB page that she thought it was wrong for illegals to get food cards she was fired. For those of you that don’t know the largest portion of the budget for Department of Agriculture is for the food programs of welfare.
