[Netanyahu can be friends with Putin and I don’t hear anybody objecting, including Democrats in Congress who claim to support Israel. But they howl like banshees if Trump says he wants good relations with Russia.]

The Democrats certainly want to pretend to be friends with Israel while they cheered Barry giving Iran money for the JCPOA, which any rational person knows was just a front. It’s so absurd (Iran has to approve inspections) that only the United Nations and the European Union could love it (besides Democrats).

But yes, Democrats will twist, lie, use subterfuge, ANYTHING to get at President Trump.

We all know that Hillary would have been Barry’s third term, essentially. Billary (Bill-Hillary) were against Obama until they decided they could cash in on his undeserved fame from his cult. And they certainly did cash in.

Of course, none of the Democrats are concerned about Hillary’s Uranium One connection to the tune of what, $146 million dollars? I’ll ping Liz. She knows a lot.

The Democrats are all OK with Russian Collusion when Hillary does it. Or Bill. Or both.

My take Crimean issue is sealed forever. More chances that Orange county would go to Mexico than Crimea goes to Ukraine.
And since the topic is about Israel I believe most people of Israel agree.

If you go back and look at Israel inspecting shipments from Turkey to Gaza, it bubbled to the surface. Quickly.

The IDF soldiers were being beat with chains as they rappelled down from helicopters. Eventually they shot some of them to death. Turkey, Erdogan of course, was livid.

Erdogan then said he would send Turkish destroyers to escort the shipments.

Bibi told Erdogan that would be a “bad idea” - AFAIK, they did not do it.

Believe me, I was nervously watching to see if a NATO ally was gonna send warships down to Israel. Of course it finally calmed down.

Then (afterwards I think) Turkey shot down that Russian fighter. There was a kerfuffle between Putin and Erdogan. Then they made public statements about being friends again.

Strange times we live in.

All the incidents you mentioned are minor in a big world of things. Look for a bigger picture.

And Iran?

Iran is the big elephant in the room in the picture.

I doubt very much can be done about Iran, especially with Russia supporting them.

I’ll be happy to be proven wrong. I expect Iran’s mullahs and hard-core Islamic ruling to eventually clash with Israel.

Iran is such a large country that conventional strikes are just about not an option (if that would solve anything).

IOW, I expect this Iran problem to get worse.

Perhaps a false peace will be negotiated. There is apparent surprise at the Ezekiel 38 invasion. One of those protesting is Sheba and Dedan. That is Saudi Arabia.

Saudi Arabia and Iran were already in a proxy war in Yemen.

Wouldn’t surprise me if the attack on the Saudi refinery was by Iranian-backed rebels. It may have already been identified as that.

Some make “Sheba and Dedan” as south Arabia which wouldn’t be incorrect.

The attack on the Saudi refinery I’m referring to:

Ah well, of course:

“A spokesman for the Iran-aligned Houthi group in Yemen said it had deployed 10 drones in the attacks.”

Iran is the whole different issue. It is indeed a threat to Israel but you can’t blame Russia for it one bit.
Iran in its current form is a creation of incompetent US foreign policy.
First Carter made it an enemy and then Bushes made them into a dominant force in the Middle East by removing Saddam from the equation.
What Russia has to do with it?
Russia has to accept in as consequences just like everyone else.
Still there is some use for Iran as a check and balance against Sunni extremism in the region.

Houthi and Yemen is not a problem appeared out of thin air. Saudis did a lot to create this problem.

[Iran ... It is indeed a threat to Israel but you can’t blame Russia for it one bit.]

Can’t agree with ya on that last part. Russia has a long history in the Middle East. From Egypt to Syria, for example. And of course the U.S. does too.

So I wouldn’t say one bit. But, let’s see if Russia continues to support Iran doing whatever Iran does. I think they will, overall.

I guess time will tell.

From Wikipedia:

The Russians in Israel are ethnic Russian citizens who are immigrants to Israel from ethnic Russian communities of the Soviet Union and post-Soviet states, and their descendants. They are mostly members of mixed families, more specifically, Halachically non-Jewish members of Jewish households living in Israel. A few are descended from Russian Subbotnik families, who have migrated to Israel over the past century. People of full or partial ethnic Russian ancestry number around 300,000 of the Israeli population from the immigrants from the Soviet Union and post-Soviet states, and the number of Russian passport holders living in Israel is in the hundreds of thousands.

Netanyahu is friends with Putin and has met with him many times in recent years. Putin has very personal connections to Russian Jews, and seems to like Jews generally.

I wouldn’t call it support. Russia and Iran operate independently in Syria. It doesn’t support any Iranian operation aimed against Israel and looks the other way when Israel retaliates. It supports Iranian operations when they are aimed against terrorists opposing legit Syrian government. That’s it.

[ and then Bushes made them into a dominant force in the Middle East by removing Saddam from the equation. ]

After supporting Saddam, of course. As I recall, Reagan said he thought it made sense to use Saddam against Iran, at one time.

Then we had Bush-Clinton-Bush-ObamaClinton-Clinton(failed).

And Bush obviously supports Hillary and Obama. Shaking my head.

And the Middle East is a huge mess.

FWIW, I don’t personally believe that Saddam was involved in 9/11. I always blamed SA for that. Or at least some of her citizens. Iraq was shooting at U.S. Navy recon jets, violating the ceasefire. For that, I had no problem targeting the SAM sites.

Now this problem is too complex to solve, IMHO.

Yeah, I have always found it interesting that one particular ministry is dedicated to Russian Jews - and helping them emigrate to Israel from Russia. On Wings of Eagles, I think.

Liberman has taken up the anti-religious banner from the Lapides. His ‘Russian’ constituency has mostly assimilated to broader Israeli culture.

No way Putin wants to extend support to what is essentially a bit player.

Putin can’t afford to lose Jewish supporters in Russia and Netanyahu don’t want to lose Russian supporters in Israel.
That is coming from the fact that Jews in Russia are mostly leaning left to the Communists but pro-Israel policies are shifting them back to Putin. In Israel Lieberman pose him self as Russian candidate but Russian Jews in Israel are more conservative and Netanyahu is politically closer to them but ethnic question still matters. For that reason Putin ties play for Netanyahu.

The support I speak of is Russian SAM systems, for example, to defend particular Iranian targets. In Iran.

I expect Iran will eventually demonstrate a nuke detonation. Some have claimed some of the earthquakes prove that. I don’t know on that.

But I believe that if Iran’s mullahs can put a nuke on a missile, they will. And they’ll launch on Israel.

Let’s see if they prove me wrong. Remember when the Mossad found all the nuclear tech stuff that Bibi displayed?

Iran’s mullahs still have their agenda. I think we both see that.
