You go where the voters are and that is not here, the voters here are 99% sewed up.
My 13 yo granddaughter has stopped using straws, and tries to get the rest of the family to emulate her. I asked if this was due to them being told about a floating island of plastic about the size of Texas located in the Pacific, to whick she said yes. I asked if they were actually given the whole story about the source of the plastic, to which she said no. I proceeded to expound on the source of 85% of the plastic coming from two rivers - one in china, and one in India, and that if everyone in the entire U.S. stopped using any plastic, it would make little difference since those countries have huge populations and don’t give a rip about conservation / pollution prevention. I told her she should go back and tell the rest of the story to her class, and ask the ‘teacher’ why they weren’t given the whole story, and not just the little bit that would sway their opinion against any form of plastic use by the U.S.
I care not is was done prior. IMO, it’s a bone-head move meant to merely save the PARTY $$.
The same party that hem/hawed, broke their own (signed, IIRC) pledges & pretty much balked at EVERY good push Pres. Trump attempted. “With friends like that...”.
What it fails to do, BIGLY, is:
- Get new/better ideas in the open & talked about a/o re-hashed (provided new data\changes).
- Point out the failures, bad policies, etc.
- Give the electorate OPTIONS
IMO, only goes to show it’s more about PARTY > politics > principles (regardless the side of the Uniparty coin). I have no dog in this hunt anyway (for these reasons & more).
